Last Week of Summer....

Jason starts school on Monday :( Boo. We've been enjoying the last couple weeks of summer. We love going on walks in the evenings when it finally cools off a little. We live really close to a McDonalds and a DQ and our favorite frozen yogurt place. Awesome, but kind of hazardous. On Monday, I left my phone at Top It (outside on the curb where we had been sitting) and a nice man found it and called my mom to tell me where it was. It's always a little embarrassing when your mom has to call your husband at 10:00 at night to tell him where to pick up the phone you didn't even know you were missing...

I had some books reserved at the library so last night Jason and I walked down to get them... all 7 of them. Then I treated Jason to some dairy queen for his half birthday (Aug 17). He says I don't have a half birthday since April 31st doesn't exist...I said well, my half birthday would be May 1st. But he said that would mean that the Nov 1st half birthday would be on May 2nd and that doesn't make sense...so skunked again I guess. I don't have a half birthday. On the bright side it's buy one get one half off of blizzards this week at Dairy Queen. So I enjoyed myself a raspberry truffle blizzard and some delicious fries in honor of Jason's half birthday. Oh and I'm pretty excited about all the sweet books I got from the library thanks to Audrey's good reads list. Gracias bff.

On the not so bright side, I think my computer is on the down slope. It wouldn't turn on the other morning. It finally fixed itself, but I think it's only a matter of time till she goes down.
In other good news Jason's brother, Steven, got married last Friday. Yay for the summer of love! Seriously, it's insane how many weddings have happened or are close to happening this year. I'm going to give a lot of the credit to President Monson and his talk at the April conference.

"I realize there are many reasons why you may be hesitating to take that step of getting married. If you are concerned about providing financially for a wife and family, may I assure you that there is no shame in a couple having to scrimp and save. It is generally during these challenging times that you will grow closer together as you learn to sacrifice and to make difficult decisions. Perhaps you are afraid of making the wrong choice. To this I say that you need to exercise faith. Find someone with whom you can be compatible. Realize that you will not be able to anticipate every challenge which may arise, but be assured that almost anything can be worked out if you are resourceful and if you are committed to making your marriage work."

"Choose a companion carefully and prayerfully; and when you are married, be fiercely loyal one to another. Priceless advice comes from a small framed plaque I once saw in the home of an uncle and aunt. It read, 'Choose your love; love your choice.' There is great wisdom in those few words. Commitment in marriage is absolutely essential."

This talk meant a lot to me and I think Jason and I both give a lot of credit to it in helping us (me) finally have the courage and faith to make the decision to be married. Actually, Jason asked me after conference if I was going to follow the prophet. We were engaged 3 weeks later. And... it was the best decision ever. Marriage is wonderful and I'm so grateful to have such a kind and patient (and funny) husband.

Anyway, back to Steven and Danielle. They were super cute and their wedding was a blast. The reception was in Danielle's parents' awesome back yard. They had twinkle lights everywhere and a delicious Mexican feast. We decided it's a lot more fun to be at a reception where you're not the one in line for the whole night.

Here we are waiting for them to come out in our get up.

It was a very nice wedding and we're super excited for them. They're still in Puerto Rico...lucky ducks. And tomorrow we're heading up to the big city of Shelley, Idaho for Jessica and Brian's reception. And then real life starts again on Monday.
